Tender Mercies

Last weekend there was a change in the Stake Presidency of the San Antonio West Stake, and for Stake Conference we learned Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles would be speaking. The meeting was held in downtown San Antonio to accommodate all the people who would be showing up to hear him speak. We were very excited!

We arrived there an hour early and got seats in the second row! Big props to Jaz for getting the kids ready on time. The choir was awesome. The messages were sweet and inspiring. There was a funny moment when the exiting Stake President gave Elder Nelson a big Cowboy hat as a gift and he put it on. And to top it off, we were able to shake hands with Elder Nelson and have our picture taken with him (w/ a Matthew pirate face and all).

It was beautiful to see my wife and kids meet an Apostle for the first time.

What a wonderful Sabbath we were able to spend as a family.

Thats so cool you got to meet Elder Nelson. I can't believe Olivia is already potty-training. And it actually isnt' too early at all. My sister visit teaches a lady who has 10 kids and she potty-trained each one between 18-24 months. She says thats the best time, because they are more willing to learn and don't get as frustrated like they do when they hit the terrible twos. Anyways, I don't know much about potty-training. I don't think Eric is interested at all.

How cool is that?! I think it's awesome that you guys made the effort to get there so early, and that you were able to meet Elder Nelson. That is a tender mercy.
