Learning Playgroup

Today was the first day of our Learning Playgroup, and we had such a good time! A couple of months ago I emailed some moms from the ward who have kids the same age as Olivia to form a educational playgroup for the kids. They are all within 2 months apart from each other, and I just realized that I have been focusing on Matthew and his school so much that Olivia was just chillin' around the house and I wasn't really sitting down with her to teach her colors and letters ect...Since all the moms either have a newborn and a toddler or are expecting a new baby, we thought it would be a good idea to do some activities with the "big" kids and start doing more learning things through play. Andrea Shipley was in charge of the lesson and she did an amazing job! Today was all about turkeys! We traced our kiddos hands and feet and made a turkey. We also sang a turkey song and shared some yummy turkey meat snacks! Thanks for everyone showing up on time and being ready to learn! We had lots of fun, and I think the kids did too!

That is seriously such a good idea. There are a bunch of kids around Adam's age here -- I'll have to see if they'd be up for that. How long do you do the playgroup for?

We are in a CEP (Children's Educational Program) playgroup like this and it's great. If you ever need ideas, let me know and I'll send you a list of what our CEP group does.
